Greetings, and welcome to our bulletin full of information on exciting Russian events.
RCS Haven is welcoming anyone who is interested in studying Russian language, literature and culture. We have English and Russian language lessons. There are a library, Art studio for children and Web-design Studio.
Also, the Centre provides consultations in law, finance and other aspects of work and business in Russia and Britain.
Please note that our centre will be closed between 22nd December 2014 and 5th January 2015.

NEWS

 
Dear Friends!
We would like to invite you to our New Year and Christmas celebrations.
The celebration includes a concert, children’s theatre, traditional songs and dancing, games for children and adults, craft fair, cake auction and refreshments.
The songs and events will be mainly in Russian, but with English commentary (and many English speaking people to explain what’s going on).
We will have the use of two halls: one large for the show and another smaller one for the use of mothers with small children.
The celebration is taking place from 3pm till 5 pm on the 20th December at:  Partick Burgh Hall, 9 Burgh Hall Street, G11 5LN
Tickets are on sale:

Regular events in Scotland

Orthodox Church Services:
The following Scottish churches hold regular/semi-regular Orthodox services (all welcome):
Glasgow: The Parish of St. Kentigern (Russian Orthodox). Services held in Govan Old Church, 866 Govan Road, Glasgow, G51 3UU.
Edinburgh: Orthodox Community of St. Andrew (a mixture of Orthodox faiths. Services held in the Chapel of St. Andrew, 2 Meadow Lane, Edinburgh, EH8 9NR.

Art studio for Children
Art lessons for children are undergoing in RCS Haven.
Under supervision of experienced teachers, a professional artist and a specialist in early development, children study the basics of drawing and painting, language development and drama. All children are welcome on Fridays from 5:30pm till 7:30pm.

Ilia Kalinin is Associate Professor in the Department of Liberal Arts at St Petersburg State University. He is also Editor-in-Chief of the journal Neprikosnovennyi Zapas: Debaty o politike i kul'ture (NZ: Debates on Politics and Culture). His current research deals with problems of collective memory in post-Soviet Russia.

Russkaya Cappella will be performing a selection of church music by Russian composers from the 19th and 20th centuries (including Bortnyansky, Rachmaninoff, and Kastalsky), some Christmas songs from the 17th century, and traditional carols from Russia and Ukraine.

18th- 20th Centuries". This exciting new show will depict the history of Russian portraiture through the display of more than a hundred works of art.

This annual event sees around 200 RBCC members and partners gather to discuss a key issue in Russo-British business. This year, our focus will be on trade between Russia and the UK. It has of course been a difficult year for business between the two nations, but trade has continued regardless, and Russian markets remain a great opportunity for UK exporters.
