Part of the The Future Remains: Revisiting Revolution season at Calvert 22 Foundation marking the centenary of 1917, the exhibition looks back on the Soviet experiment and the ways Prigov harnessed ideological, philosophical and mystical languages to address themes of chaos, change and death. 22 November – 23 December
Directed by Lucy Bradley.
Olivier Award-winning OperaUpClose comes to Arcola for the first time with a new English version of Tchaikovsky’s sweeping opera, Eugene Onegin.
With a narrative that is both romantic and thought-provoking, the central character is the fiercely intelligent but naïve Tatyana, whose entanglement with Onegin results in a wiser, sadder but ultimately self-reliant heroine.
This new chamber version will transpose the story of Tatyana’s sexual awakening to the early 1960s, a world on the cusp of the women’s liberation movement when new thinking fought against the old ways. Infatuation and self-control do battle in well-tailored world of sleek suits, with seasonal allusions to the snow-swept Russian landscape of the original.
This is a coming-of-age story, a requiem for lost innocence and triumphant celebration of hard-won independence – told through some of the most glorious vocal music ever written. Arcola Theatre, 24 Ashwin Street, Dalston, London E8 3DL

4 - 8 December
Organiser: UCL SSEES and The TUC (Trades Union Congress) Library.
In the years following 1917, the aftershocks of the Russian Revolution fundamentally reshaped the politics of the British left.
Amidst the turmoil that extended from the end of the First World War in 1918 to the General Strike in 1926, events in Russia seemed, in the eyes of many, to offer new possibilities for political, social and economic change.
This exhibition draws on the TUC Library’s extensive collections. UCL SSEES, 16 Taviton Street, WC1H 0BW London

Nikolaj Znaider takes on the roles of both conductor and soloist to explore the compelling links between Mozart and Tchaikovsky.
These two composers were born into different musical worlds, but despite their unique voices – the elegance and grace of Mozart, the tempestuous drama of Tchaikovsky – there are intriguing links between them. In fact, Tchaikovsky revered the beauty of his predecessor's music so much that he described Mozart as a 'musical Christ'. Barbican Centre, Silk Street, London, EC2Y 8DS
