RCS Haven E-Bulletin - September 2013

Greetings, and welcome to our bulletin full of information on exciting Russian events.

RCS Haven is welcoming anyone who is interested in studying Russian language, literature and culture. We have English and Russian language lessons. There are a library, Art studio for children and Web-design Studio.
Also, the Centre provides consultations in law, finance and other aspects of work and business in Russia and Britain.
 
NEWS 

 
Russian School is now operating at the new location in The Wise Group, 72 Charlotte St, Glasgow City G1 5DW.  
The entire ground floor was allocated for the school. Classes are held on Saturdays from 11-00 to 13-00.
 
When registering a child before September 14 receive a discount.
 
Classes of Russian as a foreign language for Scottish children are available from 12-00 to 13-00.
There are also classes for adults, from 11-00 to 12-00. The lessons are held at the Wise Group premises.
 
Enrollment for the class preparing for the SQA exams is still on. Classes will be held on Fridays from 18-00 to 20-00 at 11 Duke Street, G4 0UL.
SQA confirmed that at the beginning of the new school year RCS Haven is the only independent centre, which has the right to prepare for and examine Russian language in SQA format with the exam results appearing in the Scottish Qualifications Certificate.
If the school of your child is ready to register it for the exam through their system, our center has the right to sign a contract with the school to jointly prepare a child for the exams.
In 2012-2013, out of 8 students of SQA class 7 passed with grade A and 1 with grade B.
SQA certificate increases the chances for admission into the Universities.

Enroll in our Karate Group! Get fit and strong under the guidance of an experienced coach, the European champion 2007, Timur Hicmatullin. Training will take place from 13-00 to 14-00 at the premises of Wise Group on Saturdays. All registered for the classes will receive a letter with time and date of the first lesson.
 
Our Art Studio at 11 Duke Street will continue working this year. Currently we are discussing opening hours - Wednesday or Thursday from 17-00 to 19-00. All registered for the classes will receive a letter with time and date of the first lesson.

The following Scottish churches hold regular/semi-regular Orthodox services (all welcome):

Art studio for Children
Art lessons for children are undergoing in RCS Haven.
Under supervision of experienced teachers, a professional artist and a specialist in early development, children study the basics of drawing and painting, language development and drama. All children are welcome on Wednesdays from 5pm till 7pm.

One of the most eagerly anticipated events this summer for the UK art world will be the return of around 60 masterpieces from the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg to their former home, Houghton Hall in Norfolk. Most of these paintings have never left Russia since their acquisition by Catherine the Great in 1779 from the private collection of former prime minister Robert Walpole, and their brief visit to England provides a rare opportunity to see these masterpieces in UK. Artists featured include Murillo, Poussin, Rembrandt, Rubens and Van Dyck.
