Greetings, and welcome to our bulletin full of information on exciting Russian events.
 
RCS Haven is welcoming anyone who is interested in studying Russian language, literature and culture. We have English and Russian language lessons. There are a library, Art studio for children and Web-design Studio.
Also, the Centre provides consultations in law, finance and other aspects of work and business in Russia and Britain.
Please note that our centre will be closed between 19th  December 2015 and 4th January 2016.

NEWS

 
Russian School in Glasgow in Association with RCS Haven invites all to the Russian New Year Carnival!
The celebration is taking place from 3pm till 5 pm on the 19th December at:  Maryhill Burgh Hall, 10 – 24 Cairbraid Avenue, Glasgow, G20 8YE.
The Carnival includes a concert, children’s theatre, traditional songs and dancing, games for children and adults, craft fair, cake auction and refreshments.
Tickets are on sale at the Adelphi Centre every Saturday and during the week at RCS Haven office, 11 Duke Street, G4 0UL, or by phone 0141 552 2144 or email [email protected]

On behalf of all members and guests of RCS Haven we would like to express our gratitude to the staff of Santander’s Glasgow office for repainting our premises.
Last month, ten Santander employees put on their painting overalls as part of Santander’s ‘Community Days’ initiative. On 17 November, the staff from Santander’s Glasgow office spent a day repainting the RCS Haven, including the main hall, office and kitchen. 
Santander's Community Days scheme encourages staff to take a day out of the office to volunteer with a local cause. Last year over 2,700 members of staff took part in 256 projects across the country, including refurbishing local schools, hospitals and helping with community projects...

Regular events in Scotland

Orthodox Church Services:
The following Scottish churches hold regular/semi-regular Orthodox services (all welcome):
Glasgow: The Parish of St. Kentigern (Russian Orthodox). Services held in Govan Old Church, 866 Govan Road, Glasgow, G51 3UU.
Edinburgh: Orthodox Community of St. Andrew (a mixture of Orthodox faiths. Services held in the Chapel of St. Andrew, 2 Meadow Lane, Edinburgh, EH8 9NR.

Art studio for Children
Art lessons for children are undergoing in RCS Haven.
Under supervision of experienced teachers, a professional artist and a specialist in early development, children study the basics of drawing and painting, language development and drama. All children are welcome on Fridays from 5:30pm till 7:30pm.

In a display to mark the forthcoming anniversary of the defence of Leningrad the Mitchell Library in Glasgow presents the Leningrad Album which was received in Scotland in January 1943 and is now part of the Library's Special Collections.  Supervised by artist Anna Petrovna Ostramova-Lebedeva, it features lithographs, poems and messages of hope and humanity from the women of the beleaguered city to their allies in Scotland.

They call him "the best clown in the world". His Snow Show is celebrated as "a theatre classic of the 20th century" (The Times, London). His eccentric pantomime, which he lovingly dubbed "Expressive Idiotism", brought him enormous popularity. It also crowned him an artist laureate of Estrada, the Russian showbiz stage. There wasn't a single concert of note in which the double-act Polunin-Skorzov didn't play a part.
