Greetings, and welcome to our bulletin full of information on exciting Russian events.

We have received our first systems visit from the SQA since our initial approval on 11th July.    Quality Enhancement Manager Sarah McRoberts met with the SQA Co-ordinator/Assessor  Victoria Ziervogel and the Head of Centre/ Internal Verifier Dr Nina Ivashinenko.   The evidence seen on these visit shows that Centre continues to comply with SQA’s quality criteria and recommendations have been made to enhance our quality systems.   From the start of the new academic session the Centre intends to employ a further two assessors and will create a new system of partnership with Scottish schools which will allow common preparation for childrentaking examinations in Russian.     

  Sergey Smith won the silver medal in arm wrestling at the Clan Wars competition, held on June 8 in Milngavie as part of the Scottish Highland Games.   Sergey represented Scotland at the competition in the 100kg category. In a bitter struggle he was only beaten by the British champion Paul Maiden. His victory makes him the Scottish number one and British number two.   Born in the Soviet Union, as a young man Sergey took part in arm wrestling, but after moving to Glasgow he no longer took part in the sport. 10 years later, he decided to resume his career and immediately won the silver cup.

We have English and Russian language lessons. There are a library, Art studio for children and Web-design Studio.

Please register for our Russian School 2013/2014 as soon as possible!  Our school session kicks off in August, but there are a number of benefits to early enrolment. Our educational programme is carefully planned and is designed in accordance with the Russian Ministry of Education standards. Furthermore, if we know that your child will be attending, then we can ensure that pre-term preparatory materials are provided. This means that children are best prepared for the year ahead.

We are pleased to announce that RCS Haven is the only centre in Scotland, which is accredited to conduct tests in the SQA format. In the light of upcoming changes we are planning a new program for our students to obtain the certificates "Russian for life" and "Russian for work" which will be new SQA tests since 2017.

We are pleased to announce that the RCS Haven won an annual grant from Glasgow City Council to perform Russian language lessons in three Glasgow schools: - Dalmarnock Primary www.dalmarnock.ukschool.com, - Shawlands Academy www.shawlandsacademy.glasgow.sch.uk and - All Saints Academy www.allsaints-sec.glasgow.sch.uk   Exciting lessons in our Russian club will help your child learn more about Russia and give a good start in learning the Russian language.   This is a tremendous way to make new friends, exchange language skills and have a great time.   Teachers from the Russian School at RCS Haven are organising the classes.
